The food was excellent, staff were nice, very clean restrooms. Food was all preservative free, Boars Head meats, coleslaw was excellent, and best French fries I've ever had.
It all was perfect.
Thank you, people, for a good, welcoming atmosphere.
A friendly bright southern deli atmosphere. Triple the meat on any gas station sandwich wrapped in plastic wrap and you’ll have a pretty good idea of what you’re getting here. There’s nothing to like about these sandwiches besides nostalgia for a brown bag school lunch but sometimes that’s just what we’re looking for.
Has gone down hill. This used to be one of my favorite Deli shops in the area, usually getting a Reuben. The sandwich quality to price ratio is WAY off. The last time I got a BLT, it had a thin layer of lettuce, and not much bacon at all. And they threw in a slice of bread in the middle possibly to make it look like a big sandwich. Worst BLT ever. Next, I got a ham and cheddar "melt" that I thought would be great on a cold day. The entire sandwich was cold. Asked if I could throw it in the microwave to get it to "melt" status. Overall the food here is very middle of the road and you will spend at least $45 for two people. Their iced tea and pickles are good, you can at least count on that.
I didn't know much about this place, but it was close to Tupelo Honey which had a two hour wait on Sunday. I got the grilled chicken caesar wrap with sweet potato fries. The wrap was great! Not too much dressing and plenty of chicken. They give you a ton of sweet potato fries too. They were nice and crispy on the outside but soft in the middle. A little overpriced, but it didn't take too long to get my food. Also know that they put a pickle on your plate. Luckily my husband ate mine, since I hate pickles.
The food I had today wasn't the best. The pulled chicken sandwich was real dry. It seems like my meal was microwaved. Sandwich didn't seem to have fresh ingredients.
There must be a new owner or manager. Worst ever food. My order was wrong I ordered 2 chicken salads and 1 egg salads and go all egg. In addition asked for NO mayo and the sandwiches were covered with mayo. Will never order from village deli again. Btw been a customer for at least 10 if not 15 years.
This is a place that has been around for awhile. I had the classic sub which one would expect to be the poster child of sandwiches, meh. The meats and cheese was all decent quality but nothing that made my taste buds holler. They gave me white instead of wheat as well. My daughter had the egg salad on a croissant, meh as well. She said the egg salad was too sweet. The STAR of the show was her cup of roasted red pepper and Gouda soup!!! I should have bought a gallon to carry home. The depth of flavor was unexpected and satisfying. The consistency was spot on with bits of roasted red peppers and cheese, heavenly! It would be a shame to learn they don't make it themselves. Ignorance here is my bliss. Big oversight on the COVID front is they their menu is not all on a board but rather menus that are in bins that everyone handles and puts back in the same spot, no cleaning. I looked at the menu online to decide what I wanted. Also they tables weren't cleaned regularly and I went on a Saturday about noon. Overall decent "cafe/deli", they serve chicken tenders, if you are in the area ok but I wouldn't make it a destination.
Didn't really get acknowledged while standing patiently with no one in front of us or at the register with two people operating separate registers, and someone forgot to clean up the sugar container for sweet tea from the drink station, which also looked like it hadn't been attended to or cleaned in hours, 2 star off. Pastrami on rye was okay but hardly any Dijon mustard on there. It's a squared bread so no real reason why the meat should be piled unevenly on the sandwich. Didn't get a pickle but then asked for a spear and got a few, so that was awesome, 1 star back for service. Coleslaw was very mediocre, not enough dressing or seasoning.
Overall it's a solid spot to get closer to actual food without paying an exorbitant amount. For a $12 sandwich I expected some more meat though for a meat bread and mustard only sandwich.
